A fine 18th century English carved limewood and pine chimneypiece. The breakfront shelf above a cornice carved with a continuous dental and foliate motif. The frieze with a beautifully carved centre tablet depicting a rural scene and flanked by delicate bell flower swags, paterae and elongated foliated capitals. The tapering jambs carved with bell flowers, and lidded urns with floral swags. Circa 1770. Restored.

In order to convey the original proportions of the interior the chimneypiece has temporarily been fitted with stone slips.
